LanXess Trophy

On my 1st Semester, I learned the fundamentals and techniques to 3D-Modelling using Cinema 4D. We were introduced to various modelling techniques, as well as how to clean up your scenes and optimize your Models. Each week, I was assigned to model out simple objects like a toaster, a mug, an orange juice bottle & more just to familiarize myself with the tools Cinema 4D has to offer.

My very first 3D model was taught on the basics for extruding, beveling & scaling objects. A simple low-poly house with those principles was the first assignment for my first semester.

Following modelling techniques, we were slowly introduced with the familiarity of PBR-Materials and Material Nodes for Cinema 4D. This was later re-introduced with Redshift, as it uses an entirely new render engine.

The following weeks were freely assigned to model out basic kitchen commotities, such as a Toaster without any guidance. This time, we had to use our learned basics to model out our first models.

At the end of my Semester, I received a final Assignment to model out a Trophy for a „Sold Out Award 2020“ aimed at LanXess Arena. There were no restrictions or requirements as to how it should be modeled. Since the LanXess Arena is not only tied to one specific event, I wanted to create an abstract Trophy with notable Icons as to what could be awarded: Which would include Music, E-Sport & Sports.

The Process contained modelling out the notable Icons (to keep it simple enough for everyone to to notice what it is), which finallly will be merged with the base and shapes from the Trophy itself. The polishing process contained of tweaking the Materials, adding subdivision modifiers and splines to extrude the polygon shapes.

The compositon, lighting and display of the Trophy was manually added at a later date for a clear visualization of the assignment. It was originally planned that the best trophy of the study group will be printed in 3D, but due to the pandemic it was postponed indefinetly.

  • Software used: Cinema 4D, Redshift, Adobe Photoshop
